How did you decide on the name of your brewery? Persimmon Hollow was the original name of Deland. Back in the mid 1870's there was a small group of settlers living amongst the oak and Persimmon trees. Our Brand guru/ graphic artist extraordinaire, Clark Orr, presented the idea to us and we fell in Love!
How did you get involved in craft beer and brewing? I was playing music with my now business/brewing partner Andy Sistrunk and apparently we were not spending enough time together. We decided, one faithful Saturday, to brew our first batch of home brew (my first ever and Andy's second ever). the rest is 5 years worth of history and bromance.
What are you most proud of about your product or facility? We handcraft everything we can, that's what I am most proud of. We had our hands in just about every aspect of the buildout from standing the brewing vessels right-side up to painting the bathrooms. We put our heart and soul in everything and we hope it shows.
What struggles/challenges did you overcome to open your brewery? We were the first in Deland so we had to work very closely with the city officials to work through some logistical challenges, however we were able to cultivate a strong partnership and move through the challenges together. We wouldn't be here if it were not for the support of everyone in DeLand! Thank y'all.
